Anna Cianci, Graduate Student Counselor

Career Goals

Upon graduation, my immediate career goal is to obtain a full-time clinical position within the Spiritual Care and Counseling Department at Cone Health, where I currently serve as a counseling intern and previously completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) as a chaplain. During my first year after graduation, I plan to work under clinical supervision as I complete the direct and indirect clinical hours required for licensure as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA). My goal is to continue developing competence in evidence-based counseling, crisis intervention, grief and bereavement counseling, trauma-informed care, and the integration of spiritual and psychological care within an interdisciplinary healthcare setting.

Over the next three years, I intend to complete the supervised clinical experience required for full licensure as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC). During this period, I hope to deepen my expertise in working with individuals experiencing end-of-life concerns, grief and loss, major life transitions, caregiver stress, and women recovering from past or present emotional, physical, or sexual abuse. I plan to pursue advanced continuing education and specialized training in trauma treatment, grief counseling, and therapies that support resilience, healing, and post-traumatic growth.

My long-term career goal is to establish a private counseling practice that provides compassionate, evidence-based, and holistic care to adults navigating some of life’s most significant challenges. I hope to specialize in counseling individuals facing terminal illness and end-of-life issues, people experiencing major life transitions, and women healing from the effects of abuse and complex trauma. Drawing upon my backgrounds in counseling, psychology, chaplaincy, and healthcare, I aspire to create a practice that integrates emotional, relational, existential, and, when desired by the client, spiritual dimensions of healing. My ultimate goal is to accompany clients with empathy, respect, and clinical excellence as they move toward greater resilience, meaning, and hope.
